Equine Physiotherapy

The bond between horse and rider is so strong that we know when something is wrong, but we don’t always know what’s right, which is why we encourage you to reach out to us if you believe your horse may be in pain or discomfort or they are showing a noticeable behaviour change. Symptoms to look out for include, but are not limited to –

  • Reduced performance
  • Difficulty with transitions
  • Stiffness
  • Evading contact
  • Asymmetry in muscle bulk
  • Girth behaviour/changes in behaviour
  • Unwilling to work from behind

All our appointments begin with a detailed discussion about your animal’s history and health, including any previous injuries or conditions, and their role/job. We then move onto the assessment phase, where we can observe your horse’s posture, symmetry and muscle, behaviour, and response to handling, followed by a gait and range of motion assessment.

Once your horse is assessed, we recommend a bespoke course of physiotherapy treatment based on our observations and the animal’s history.

Part of our treatment includes a detailed and bespoke exercise and rehabilitation programme so that you can monitor your horses’ condition and keep track of their progress. We are also able to provide consultation services and offer further recommendations for your animal’s rehabilitation regime.

After our first equine physiotherapy session, a detailed report on your horse will be compiled. This is where we keep track of the horse’s recovery and the progress made in each session. Inside will be all our findings, any long-term conditions, prescribed treatments and the exercise and rehabilitation programme. We will add this to your animal’s medical history, which can be sent on if required. If you wish to be sent a summary, please ask.

Please get in touch via our contact page if you require further information on equine physiotherapy or would like to book an appointment.
